Andrés de Loera-Brust is a senior captain of the speech and debate team. His expertise is definitely debate: he's competed in every debate event. His sophomore year, he focused on Public Forum, making states in that. His junior year, his main event was Parliamentary debate, in which he and his partner took 9th in the state. He also moved into limited prep speech events towards the end of that year. This year, he will be focusing on LD and continuing in impromptu and extemporaneous speaking. Outside of the team, Andrés spends a lot of time on the Great California Drone Debate fundraiser and is the master electrician of Acme Theatre Company. And, he's looking forward to a great season!
Priya Sah is a returning senior to the DHS speech and debate. She joined the team in her junior year and participated in Duo and Humorous interpretation, as well as congressional debate. This year she is going back to doing duo, as well as Dramatic interpretation and Congress. She possesses a love for public speaking, and hopes to encourage others to love it just as much!
Peter Zhu is returning for his second year on the DHS Speech and Debate team. Last year, he competed in Oratorical Interpretation, Public Forum debate, and Oratorical Declamation. He plans on continuing the aforementioned events, in addition to adding Duo Interpretation to his event list. Outside of speech and debate, he has no life. He plans on balling hard, getting ballots, and meeting everyone who is interested in speech and debate.

Kate Gieschen
Kate Gieschen is one of the senior captains of the team, and is in her third and final year of competition. She specializes in speech, with competitive experience in TI, DUO, and OPP, and coaching experience in just about every speech event. This year she plans to try out DI if possible. She had competed in LD, Congress, and as a PO. She spends the majority of her time at school and debate, but also loves to spend time with her family, at church or youth group, or working out. She aspires to be a neonatal nurse practitioner. She urges everyone to remember that speech is a beautiful way to share a message you care about, so pick a speech you're passionate about! She loves you guys!!!
Rockit Drew
Rocket Drew is a sophomore at DHS and he's competing in parliamentary debate for his first year on the team. Rocket's interested in speech and debate because he enjoys philosophy, theatre, and arguing about things with strangers. When he's not doing speech and debate, Rocket acts with Acme, plays guitar, and hosts a radio show at KDRT.
